The Alaafia Digital Career Training Program is a free, virtual workforce development initiative designed specifically for individuals and families affected by Sickle Cell Disease across the United States.
The program is delivered entirely online and requires participants to commit approximately 10 hours per week over a 10-week period. To ensure equitable access, Alaafia will provide a laptop or tablet to eligible participants who do not have access to a suitable device for training.

About the Program
Individuals living with Sickle Cell Disease often face significant barriers to maintaining employment due to chronic pain, frequent medical appointments, hospitalizations, and other disease-related complications. These challenges can impact financial stability and limit career opportunities for both patients and their families.
Recognizing these barriers, Alaafia developed the Digital Career Training Program to provide flexible, accessible career pathways that can be pursued from home. Through a combination of instructional videos, hands-on projects, mentorship, and expert guidance, participants will gain valuable digital skills that support employment, entrepreneurship, freelance work, and career independence.
The program is open to individuals aged 10 and older who are members of a family affected by Sickle Cell Disease.
