Alaafia has established a comprehensive 24-hour Call, Text, and Chat Crisis Hotline dedicated to supporting Africans individuals with disabilities and people living with Sickle Cell Disease who are experiencing domestic violence, sexual violence, human trafficking, stalking, dating violence, or family violence throughout Wisconsin.
Our confidential and culturally responsive services provide survivors with immediate access to crisis intervention, safety planning, advocacy, emotional support, medical referrals, legal assistance, and community resources through our digital platform and 24/7 hotline services.
To increase accessibility and reduce barriers to seeking help, Alaafia offers both virtual and in-person services, allowing survivors to choose the method of support that best meets their needs. Services include:
- Crisis intervention and safety planning
- Individual advocacy and case management
- Medical and legal referrals
- Virtual and in-person counseling services
- Virtual and in-person support groups
- Emergency transportation assistance
- Food and basic needs support
- Temporary housing and shelter referrals
- Resource navigation and community referrals
Recognizing that technology can be a barrier for some survivors, Alaafia will provide electronic devices when available to eligible clients who are unable to participate in virtual counseling, support groups, or advocacy services due to lack of access to technology.
Our goal is to ensure that every survivor can safely access services, regardless of location, disability, language barriers, transportation challenges, or financial circumstances.
